Notes for Peace, 2018 – creating musical tributes for those lost to gun crime in Chicago in partnership with the CSO Negaunee Institute and Pain Over Purpose
The Lullaby Project, 2017 – working with young refugee and migrant mothers in the community and fathers in prison to create a lullaby for their children in collaboration with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Bridges, 2016 – a special new piece to celebrate 21 years of the Irene Taylor Trust in collaboration with Mark-Anthony Turnage and participants from Music in Prisons, Sounding Out and Making Tracks
A Raisin in the Sun, 2016 – a full-scale collaboration with Synergy Theatre to produce Lorraine Hansberry’s play A Raisin in the Sun with an original live score at HMP Thameside.
The Last Post, 2014 – bringing together adult male prisoners to mark the centenary of WW1 through creating a new version of ‘The Last Post’
Chicago Symphony Orchestra, 2013 – 2019 – Artistic Director Sara Lee, and Project Leaders Nick Hayes & Rex Horan have been invited annually to share their expertise of working in prisons with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra
Highs and Lows, 2013 – a collaboration with the lads at HMPYOI Werrington to make a film exploring their offending journeys.
Two Sides, 2012 – brought together young prisoners with family members to consider from both sides of the bars how their lives have been affected by imprisonment through music and spoken words pieces.
Beyond This, 2012 – part of the New Music 20×12 programme, a specially written piece for the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad, adding prisoners voices to the celebrations, guided by acclaimed composer Mark-Anthony Turnage
A Bigger Sound, 2011 – a special collaborative project with Rideout (Creative Arts for Rehabilitation) and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra – to create a new music/drama piece over 5 weeks with male prisoners
First Night Packs, 2010 – a project to create colourful and engaging information packs to help young people through their first night at HMPYOI New Hall and HMPYOI Werrington.
Fallout, 2009 – a full-scale collaborative production with Synergy Theatre Project of the play Fallout at HMP Brixton, featuring a live original score.
Inside Out, 2008 – a project using photography and listening benches to bring the work of prisoners (made in 4 projects at HMPs Holloway and Wandsworth) out to a public platform with an exhibition at the Royal Festival Hall
A Picture of Me, 2006 – a project to create a beautiful song-book with and for women prisoners, honestly exploring the issues faced by women in custody through songs, spoken pieces, photography and art
Beyond the Secret Door, 2003 – a project to help women on the inside to connect with their children on the outside by creating a series of songs with them in mind.
