Legacy giving

Leaving us a legacy

Thank you very much for considering remembering us in your Will. Leaving us a legacy is simple, and as well as helping us to continue supporting our marginalised beneficiaries to make positive changes for their futures, gifts to charities are free from inheritance tax and so may help to reduce the level of tax payable on your estate.

Pledging a legacy to the Irene Taylor Trust can be done when you first make your Will, by drafting a new Will or by adding a simple Codicil. We always recommend using a solicitor to make or amend a Will, as a solicitor will ensure that your Will is legally valid and that your wishes will be carried out.

There are three ways of leaving a charity a gift:

  • A residuary gift is the remainder of your estate, or a percentage of it, after all gifts to friends and family have been made and any debts, taxes and expenses paid
  • A pecuniary legacy is the gift of a fixed sum of money. It can be indexed linked to protect its value
  • A specific legacy is the gift of a particular item such as stocks and shares, property, life insurance policies or jewellery

The key information to include in your Will is our legal charity name, charity number and registered office address:

The Irene Taylor Trust, registered charity number 1037105
Address: The Irene Taylor Trust, 35-47 Bethnal Green Road, London, E1 6LA
