Music in Prisons’ Playlists project, Sundays 7pm on Youtube
Our Music in Prisons ‘Playlists’ project has evolved into a TV show! Currently broadcasting in prisons on Way Out TV on Sundays at 7pm, Playlists explores music genres, including new music and interviews with our Sounding Out former prisoner artists and music experts.
‘Playlists’ was originally devised during the first UK lockdown as a way to keep prisoners engaged with music and creativity. Our amazing musicians curated CDs of music & worksheets to help listeners to learn about genres of music they might not be familiar with. We had some fantastic responses from participants in their returned worksheets.
Developing the project further for prison TV, including our Sounding Out musicians making new music in genre, was made possible Arts Council England & DCMS Cultural Recovery Fund.
Join us every Sunday at 7pm throughout September and October on our Youtube channel for the latest episode! Please give the vids a ‘like’ and leave us a comment to let us know what you thought.
We’ll be exploring Rock, Hip Hop, Blues, Classical, World, Funk, Reggae, House and Grime, so there’s something for everyone! Catch up with episodes out already in the playlist below:
